Chelsea Women Remain Unbeaten Under Manager Sonia Bompastor
· Sports · BBC Sport
Chelsea currently maintain an unbeaten record across all competitions following a 2-0 victory over Roma in the Women's Champions League. Under manager Sonia Bompastor, the team has secured two wins and one draw in their opening three European phase matches while leading the Women's Super League alongside Manchester City. The recent win in London featured goals from substitute Ellie Carpenter and defender Kadeisha Buchanan. Bompastor has successfully rotated her squad to address defensive vulnerabilities that affected the team last season. The side now demonstrates tactical flexibility by adapting between back-three and back-four formations.
Why it matters
Chelsea's improved defensive stability and tactical versatility position them as strong contenders for both domestic and European titles this season. Their current form marks a successful transition period following the departure of their previous coaching era.
