An advertisement poster inside a Chennai Metro coach comparing fixed deposit interest rates to a girlfriend giving zero percent interest has sparked political outrage. DMK MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian shared a photo of the advertisement on X, condemning the messaging for disrespecting women and portraying them as objects. The ad belongs to a co-operative credit society named THECOS. Thangapandian called on authorities to immediately remove the advertisement and take action against those responsible for allowing it. AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan also demanded legal action, stating the content outraged the modesty of women.
