Chennai police have arrested granite mining businessman R Veeramani and two associates, Shanthi and Mahendra Simhan, in connection with a POCSO case. The arrests follow a significant shift in the investigation, as authorities previously filed a closure report in February after failing to locate the victim or retrieve video evidence. The case was reopened after the victim was traced and identified herself and Veeramani in a statement recorded before a Judicial Magistrate. The investigation originally began in October 2025 after a child rights worker received an anonymous envelope containing a pen drive with footage of an alleged sexual assault.
