Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a five-point artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing initiative for BRICS nations during the second session of the BRICS summit in New Delhi on September 13, 2026. Xi called on BRICS countries to rally the Global South to ensure the international order remains free from double standards and governed by international law. He urged member states to defend sovereign equality, non-interference in internal affairs, and the peaceful settlement of disputes without naming the United States directly. The Chinese leader also proposed establishing a BRICS special economic zone partnership to coordinate policies and build intelligent portals for open development. Xi departed for Beijing on Sunday afternoon following his 24-hour visit to India.
