The Chinese Foreign Ministry has officially rejected the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act 2026, which authorizes the US to impose tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil and gas. Spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated in Beijing that China will not accept the US exercising 'long-arm jurisdiction' over its normal trade activities. The legislation seeks to impose tariffs of up to 100% on key trading partners, including India and China. Beijing maintains that its economic cooperation with other nations should remain free from third-party interference and lacks a UN Security Council mandate. Meanwhile, officials from China and the US are currently in talks to reach a reciprocal trade agreement.
