Chinese authorities have reportedly obtained components of an F-35 stealth fighter after a shipment was diverted to Hong Kong. Shipping giant UPS was transporting a cockpit canopy and a weapons bay door from Australia to the U.S. in late May when the diversion occurred. Both parts feature a radar-absorbing material designed to enhance stealth capabilities. Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles stated that Australia is collaborating with the U.S. and Lockheed Martin to investigate the incident. The U.S. restricts sales of the fifth-generation aircraft to close allies, while U.S. lawmakers have previously raised concerns over advanced military technology reaching China.
