Chirag Paswan Urges CEC Gyanesh Kumar to Clarify Stand Amid EC Internal Rift

Union Minister and NDA ally Chirag Paswan has called on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to publicly clarify his position following an Indian Express investigation that revealed a deep internal rift within the three-member Election Commission. The report, based on internal notes and letters from October 2025 to August 2026, found that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi formally objected at least 14 times over 10 months against major decisions pushed by Kumar. Paswan said the responsibility to assure citizens of a free and fair electoral process lies with the CEC, and it is problematic if people begin to doubt the process itself. He emphasised the EC must present its stance to the public, not to the Opposition. The remarks were made in Patna, Bihar, on September 25, 2026.
