Union minister Chirag Paswan urged the Election Commission in New Delhi to firmly present its side amid an ongoing controversy over internal disagreements. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Paswan stated that the poll panel must retain public trust and address doubts regarding the electoral process. This follows an Indian Express report revealing that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi raised formal objections on at least 14 occasions over a 10-month period concerning electoral-roll decisions. The controversy also prompted Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to accuse Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of vote rigging and institutional theft. The ECI defended its internal review process, stating that written notes and internal scrutiny are standard mechanisms to ensure legal compliance and that all final decisions are unanimous.
