CJP Alleges Deepak Baliyan Placed Under House Arrest Ahead Of Delhi Protest

· India · Times of India, Zee News, India Today

The Cockroach Janata Party alleged that its national organisation co-in-charge, Deepak Baliyan, was placed under house arrest with around 40 plain-clothes police personnel stationed at his residence in Alwar. The party expressed concern over the safety of Baliyan's family and claimed that Alwar Police returned to his home after detaining him overnight. The allegations come ahead of the CJP's scheduled protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party also raised concerns that 57 metro stations could remain closed and all trains to New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations could be cancelled between 4am and 2pm. Meanwhile, Delhi Police formally requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to close 57 stations starting Friday night to prevent unruly mob movement towards sensitive locations.

Why it matters

The police crackdown and proposed transport restrictions severely disrupt public transit in New Delhi and escalate political tensions between the opposition party and law enforcement ahead of the planned demonstration.
