CJP Founder Calls For Delhi Rally After Members Jailed
· India · Hindustan Times, Indian Express
Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has urged supporters to gather at Central Park in Connaught Place, New Delhi, on October 16 with the national flag. The call follows the arrest of CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who were remanded to five-day judicial custody in Tihar Jail on Wednesday. The two members were detained by police on Tuesday after raising slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Nahar while holding the tricolour. Dipke stated that waving the national flag is not a crime and asked supporters in other cities to carry out similar marches. A third associate, Ajinkya Shinde, was bound down to maintain peace for six months and released on a surety of 5,000 rupees.
Why it matters
