CJP Leaders Seek Urgent Night Hearing Against Custody Extension

· India · Times of India, The Hindu, India Today

Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have moved the Delhi High Court to request an urgent night hearing regarding their judicial custody. The leaders were remanded for an additional two days by a special executive magistrate at the Mandir Marg police station on Monday. They were initially detained on October 13 for allegedly entering the Jantar Mantar protest site after it was denotified. The CJP alleges that bail proceedings have been intentionally delayed to keep the co-convenors in custody.

Why it matters

The legal challenge highlights a dispute over the detention of political figures and the accessibility of judicial relief during court vacations.
