CJP Protests EC in Mumbai Citing Rahul Gandhi's Vote Rigging Claims
· India · Indian Express, India Today
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) launched a 'Jail Bharo Andolan' against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Gandhi Jayanti. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke linked the protest to Rahul Gandhi's 2024 allegations of vote rigging in Maharashtra. The BJP won only 9 of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra in 2024, but secured 132 seats in the subsequent state Assembly elections. Police denied permission for the protest at Shivaji Park.
Why it matters
This protest raises questions about election integrity and the credibility of India's electoral process, a core democratic concern.
