CJP Volunteer’s Father Dies in Kolkata After Alleged BJP Attack

A father of a CJP volunteer from Bakura district in West Bengal died on Saturday at Burdwan Medical College Hospital after an alleged assault by BJP workers, the party says. The father, Sk Muhammad Mafik, and his son Shaik Abdul Hafeez were attacked on Thursday when Hafeez was inspecting a primary school in Karisunda block as part of the CJP’s School Thik Karo campaign. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke demanded the arrest of the accused on X, accusing the attackers of killing the father for raising concerns about school conditions. West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari said police had taken custody of three of the five suspects named in the FIR and that five other persons were detained for interrogation. The complaint does not identify the attackers as BJP members and police are still searching for the remaining suspects.
