Coast Guard Chief Says Force Does Not Distinguish Between Nations in Rescue Operations

Director General of the Indian Coast Guard Paramesh Sivamani stated that the force remains committed to saving lives at sea without distinguishing between nationalities during search and rescue operations. Speaking in Bhubaneswar ahead of the 12th edition of the national-level Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX-2026) off the Paradip coast, Sivamani highlighted India's growing role as a regional humanitarian responder. He noted that nations across the Indian Ocean Region look to India during maritime crises due to upgraded standard operating procedures and enhanced capabilities. The SAREX-2026 multi-agency exercise will feature 32 delegates from 30 foreign friendly nations to validate operational preparedness and international interoperability.
