Cochin Shipyard Lays Keel for Next-Gen Missile Vessels

Cochin Shipyard Limited has laid the keel for the first of six next-generation missile vessels designed for the Indian Navy. The ceremony took place in Kochi on September 18, 2026, with senior naval officials and shipyard leadership in attendance. These high-speed vessels are equipped with advanced surface-to-surface missile systems, anti-missile defences, and sophisticated air surveillance radars. Each ship will carry a crew of 80 personnel and reach speeds of up to 33 knots. The vessels are intended to provide offensive capabilities against enemy warships and land targets while also supporting local naval defence.
