Penguin Random House India has reportedly ended its deal to publish Sonia Gandhi's memoir, 'Belonging', following disagreements over editorial changes. Congress leader Ashok Gehlot alleged that the government pressured the publisher to remove sections concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the RSS, and China's occupation of Indian territory. Penguin Random House India denied that the decision was based on the author's refusal to accept edits, though it defended its right to fact-check manuscripts. The international edition of the book is scheduled for release on November 10 by Alfred A Knopf, a division of the same parent company. It remains unconfirmed which publisher will now handle the Indian rights for the memoir.
