Congress Demands Immediate Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
· India · The Hindu, News18
The Congress on Monday demanded that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign immediately, claiming that his actions have made him a liability for the country. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the CEC of executing illegal orders, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as G2. The attack came a day after Supreme Court judge Justice Ujjal Bhuyan criticized any electoral process that disenfranchises millions of citizens as intrinsically arbitrary and a negation of the constitutional order. Speaking at NALSAR University in Hyderabad, Justice Bhuyan stated that no amount of whataboutery can justify such disenfranchisement. The Congress previously claimed that Justice Bhuyan's remarks on the right to vote conclusively prove the CEC has violated the Constitution.
Why it matters
