The MP criticised the central government, noting the project was built at a cost of ₹250 crore per kilometer and was previously touted by PM Narendra Modi as a transformative infrastructure development. The rainfall resulted in a red alert from the India Meteorological Department and caused significant traffic disruptions across the national capital. Flight operations at IGI Airport were impacted with at least nine diversions reported between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Other areas including Connaught Place and Gurugram also experienced heavy waterlogging.
