Congress Responds After 'Modi Nahi Jayenge' Slogan Raised in Gujarat
· India · Times of India, Hindustan Times
Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced chants of “Modi nahi jayenge” while interacting with students at the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Friday. The slogan, meaning “Modi will not leave,” was raised as the Prime Minister posed for photographs at the cattle farm. Congress leader Pawan Khera responded to the incident by stating, “You wish,” and suggesting the Prime Minister would face a rush to leave the country once Parliament sessions resume. This exchange follows a recent controversy involving Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who made remarks about the Prime Minister’s future after a similar interjection at a Patna event. During the visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore and released the 24th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme.
Why it matters
The incident highlights the intensifying political rhetoric between the BJP and Congress as both parties trade barbs over the Prime Minister's political future and governance.
