Counterfeit Cancer Drug Racket Busted in Bengaluru With One Arrest

A Special Investigation Team of the Bengaluru police and the Drugs Control Department uncovered a counterfeit medicine racket supplying fake cancer drugs, life-saving medications, and ICU injections to over 90 hospitals and clinics in Bengaluru. Investigators arrested Veeresh Kumar Jain, owner of Krupa Healthcare near Minerva Circle, following raids that seized a large stock of fake medicines offered to medical establishments at discounts of around 50 per cent. The operation involved rebranding low-cost drugs and repackaging expired medicines with counterfeit labels resembling reputed pharmaceutical brands. Police seized bank transaction records and sales vouchers to trace an interstate distribution network involving more than 15 medical representatives. Investigators suspect Jain operated the firm for about five years with links to an alleged kingpin named Prashant.
