Counting of votes for the Legislative Council elections from the West Graduates Constituency begins at 8 a.m. at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad today. The constituency covers Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, and Uttara Kannada districts, where 73,658 of 97,400 eligible voters cast their franchise on Friday. Since the election uses a preferential voting system, counting is expected to span more than one round, with official results likely late in the evening or at midnight. The regional commissioner, serving as Returning Officer, oversees 14 counting tables with tight security involving 212 police personnel and CCTV monitoring.
