A special National Investigation Agency court in Jagdalpur has determined that the 2013 Jhiram Valley Maoist attack was planned nearly three months in advance. The court's detailed order reveals that CPI (Maoist) cadres conducted route surveys, stockpiled food, and held rehearsals before ambushing the Congress convoy on May 25, 2013. The attack resulted in the deaths of 27 people, including senior Congress leaders such as Nand Kumar Patel and Mahendra Karma. Following a trial, the court sentenced all 10 convicted individuals to death on September 16, 2026. Investigators found that the conspiracy originated during a regional command meeting held in February 2013.
