· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
The Central Crime Branch cybercrime police have registered an FIR and detained two people for questioning regarding social media videos targeting former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah, a Congress Working Committee member, filed a complaint with Bengaluru police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, alleging a conspiracy to damage his reputation. In a separate legal proceeding, a city civil court issued an interim injunction restraining 42 media organisations and digital platforms from publishing or circulating the disputed footage. Union minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the controversy, alleging internal leadership pressure within the state Congress. Police are currently tracing Internet Protocol addresses and specific social media accounts to identify those responsible for sharing the material.
