CUET-UG 2027 May Be Shortened to Allow Completion in a Single Day
· India · Times of India, NDTV
CUET-UG 2027 could see major changes to allow students to finish the entrance test in one day instead of multiple trips. The Ministry of Education, UGC, and NTA are working on a formula to shorten the examination cycle, with discussions held by senior officials. Current CUET-UG allows up to five subjects, each with a 60-minute paper, but proposals aim to reduce individual paper duration so five subjects can be completed in 180 to 200 minutes. Another option under discussion is reducing the maximum number of subjects from five to four. A key part of the plan involves creating subject groups based on commonly chosen combinations to schedule related papers together.
Why it matters
The changes would reduce logistical burden and travel costs for candidates, particularly those from remote areas, by minimising repeated visits to examination centres. It aims to simplify the admission process while maintaining university eligibility requirements.
