· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu

Cyclone Arnab has caused the cancellation or suspension of at least 22 express and passenger train services between October 27 and November 5, 2026. The storm made landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam on Wednesday morning, bringing sustained wind speeds of up to 135 kmph. Several services, including the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul and Rourkela-Jagdalpur trains, face significant disruptions, while others like the Hirakhand Express have been rerouted to terminate at Rayagada. The National Disaster Response Force has deployed four additional teams to Andhra Pradesh to manage disaster recovery efforts. The India Meteorological Department expects the system to continue losing intensity as it moves further inland.

Why it matters

The disruption affects thousands of rail passengers traveling through Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, necessitating immediate travel plan adjustments via the National Train Inquiry System.
