DAC Clears ₹1.10 Lakh-Crore Defence Procurement Proposals

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved procurement proposals for the armed forces worth ₹1.10 lakh crore. Approximately 98% of these acquisitions are designated for the domestic defence industry to boost indigenous manufacturing. Approved items for the Army include chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear reconnaissance vehicles, high mobility vehicles, and self-propelled mechanical mine layers. The Navy will receive Arudhra radars and marine gas turbines, while the Air Force's proposal aims to enhance the capabilities of its fighter and transport aircraft. The initiative is intended to reduce the military's reliance on foreign vendors.
