Dalmia Bharat Shares Hit 52-Week Low After Weak Q2 Results
· Business · LiveMint, Economic Times
Dalmia Bharat shares fell 6% on Tuesday to a new 52-week low of ₹1,507.70 after reporting disappointing second-quarter results that triggered earnings downgrades. Volumes rose 3% year-on-year to 7.1 million tonnes, lagging behind the broader industry's estimated 9-10% growth due to muted demand in eastern and northern regions. Ebitda dropped 29% year-on-year to ₹493 crore, missing consensus estimates as input cost inflation and lower realizations squeezed margins. Ebitda per tonne slid to ₹694, with further pressure expected in Q3 from rising fuel costs and the integration of acquired JaiPrakash Associates cement assets. Analysts at Antique Stock Broking cut their FY27-29 Ebitda estimates by 7-11%, citing a widening profitability gap compared to peers.
Why it matters
The margin compression and market share losses highlight ongoing demand pressures in the Indian cement sector, impacting investor sentiment and valuation multiples.
