DDA Park Gangrape Exposes Security Lapses in South Delhi
· India · Indian Express, Outlook India
A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by three men posing as police officers inside a sprawling 142-acre Delhi Development Authority park in South Delhi. Police reported that the accused exploited extreme darkness and isolation within the poorly lit park during the evening incident. Inspection revealed that the guard cabin near the entry point closest to the crime scene lacked electricity, while security cameras at entry gates were largely non-functional. Although the park features approximately 300 lamp posts, guards stated that most of them did not work. The vast grounds, featuring 29 gates and damaged outer boundary walls, continue to present significant security challenges despite an increased police presence following the attack.
