At least 162 people died after a violent flash flood swept through a Nepalese valley near the Chinese border, triggering high alerts in neighboring Indian states. Nepal police confirmed the updated casualty figures, while nearly 300 foreign nationals, including travelers from India, Malaysia, the UK, the US, and Australia, remain missing. The US Geological Survey attributed the disaster to a glacial collapse and debris flow in the mountainous Rasuwa district. The Indian border states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh issued evacuation orders and high alerts due to severe downstream flood risks. The disaster damaged approximately 80 bridges and 40 kilometers of paved highway, according to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
