A special court for POCSO cases in Tirunelveli has sentenced 50-year-old preacher S. Abraham to death for sexually assaulting four minor girls. The accused, who operated a prayer hall at Mela Ilanthaikulam near Thevarkulam, committed the offences in 2022 under the guise of conducting moral science classes during the school vacation. After the victims reported the abuse to their families, complaints were filed with the Thevarkulam police, leading to his arrest on July 5, 2022. POCSO Special Court Magistrate Suresh Kumar delivered the death sentence on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The trial concluded following testimonies and evidence gathered by local law enforcement agencies.
