Debris in Yemen Linked to Chinese-Made DF-15A Ballistic Missile
· World · Times of India, timesofindia.indiatimes
Open-source analysts have identified missile debris found in the Raghwan district of Yemen's Marib Governorate as a component of a Chinese-made DF-15A ballistic missile. The component reportedly features a clear designation of the missile type, though neither the identification nor its ownership by Saudi Arabia has been officially confirmed. The DF-15A is a road-mobile, solid-fuelled system capable of carrying a 500-750 kg payload across a range of 600-900 km. While Saudi Arabia has previously displayed other Chinese missile systems like the DF-3A, the kingdom has not acknowledged the operation of the DF-15A. This discovery emerges amid a period of intensified conflict between Houthi forces and Saudi-backed military units in Yemen.
Why it matters
The potential use of undisclosed Chinese-made ballistic missiles by Saudi Arabia could signal a significant expansion of the kingdom's strike capabilities, impacting regional security dynamics in the Middle East.
