India's women's hockey team began their Asian Games campaign with a dominant 19-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their opening Pool B match on Sunday. Forward Deepika starred with eight goals, finding the net in the 8th, 22nd, 25th, 33rd, 36th, 38th, 41st and 54th minutes. Other contributors included Ishika with three goals, alongside strikes from Lalremsiami, Baljeet Kaur, Neha, Navneet Kaur, Lalthantluangi and Sakshi Rana. The one-sided encounter also marked a milestone for veteran goalkeeper Savita Punia, who earned her 320th international cap to tie Vandana Katariya as the joint-most capped Indian women's hockey player.
