Deezer Plans Toggle to Filter Out AI-Generated Music by Year-End

· Technology · TechCrunch

Streaming platform Deezer is developing a new user toggle designed to filter out AI-generated music from search results and feeds before the end of the year. The feature aims to give users the option to remove artificial tracks, albums, and related artists completely from their listening experience. Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier cited clear user demand and the exponential growth of AI-generated content as the primary catalysts for the update. Company data indicates that AI tracks accounted for more than 50 percent of daily uploads in July, averaging roughly 90,000 tracks per day. Other streaming services have adopted contrasting policies, ranging from Bandcamp's total ban to Tidal's monetization cuts and Spotify's prominent track tagging.

Why it matters

Music listeners and independent creators gain a direct tool to curate their feeds and avoid automated audio saturation, reflecting a growing industry push to distinguish human art from algorithmic output.
