Delhi bans 1 million non-BS-VI vehicles from entering NCR from November 1
· Automobile · India Today, Times of India
The Delhi government, in consultation with the Centre, has imposed a three-month ban on all non-BS-VI petrol and diesel vehicles registered outside Delhi, affecting nearly 1 million vehicles from NCR cities. Starting November 1, vehicles from Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and other neighbouring areas will be barred from entering the capital until January 31, 2027, to combat winter air pollution. The ban extends beyond heavy goods vehicles to include private cars and commercial vehicles, targeting Dhanteras and Diwali festive travel. Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh confirmed no exemptions will be granted, and enforcement will be strictly implemented despite the festival season.
Why it matters
Nearly 1 million NCR residents who routinely commute to Delhi for shopping, festivals and daily work face restricted vehicle access, disrupting Dhanteras and Diwali travel plans and daily commutes.
