· India · Indian Express, The Hindu, Zee News
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta pulled up various government departments during a review meeting in New Delhi over prolonged delays in executing key infrastructure projects approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee last year. The projects include a residential complex for judicial officers at Dwarka Sector 19, budgeted at approximately Rs 171.58 crore, and electric bus charging infrastructure at Dwarka Sector 22 and Sector 8, estimated at Rs 107.02 crore. The Chief Minister directed the Law department to take immediate action against the Project Management Consultant for failing to award the judicial housing tender approved in April 2025. Additionally, CM Gupta instructed the Home department to identify a vacant land parcel in Narela for constructing a new jail complex to facilitate the phased relocation of the Tihar Jail complex.
Why it matters
The delays stall critical public infrastructure and judicial housing in Delhi, prompting direct administrative intervention from the Chief Minister to speed up implementation.
