Delhi Court Summons Nora Fatehi Again In Extortion Case

· India · Times of India, The Hindu

A Delhi Rouse Avenue court on Monday issued fresh summons to actor Nora Fatehi, directing her to appear on November 6 to record her evidence in the Rs 200-crore extortion case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The development came after Delhi Police informed the court that Fatehi had been summoned but her appearance status remained unconfirmed. Her counsel moved an application seeking an exemption from her personal appearance in the matter. The court pulled up her legal counsel, observing that her conduct was not up to the mark as she was expected to be present as a witness. "She is a witness and was supposed to be here. Her conduct is not up to the mark. Don't take the court for granted," the court said while issuing the fresh summons.

Why it matters

The court's strict stance reinforces witness accountability in high-profile criminal trials involving financial fraud and extortion.
