Delhi HC Blocks FSSAI From Cancelling ITC Licence Over Aashirvaad Atta Claims

The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to ITC, directing the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India not to cancel the company's licence over the use of "100 per cent" claims on Aashirvaad M.P Chakki Atta. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the order while hearing ITC's challenge to regulatory notices that required the company to stop using "100%" in connection with the product or face food licence action. The court noted that the question of whether the Delhi High Court has jurisdiction to hear the matter still needs to be determined. Since courts will remain closed, the protection for ITC remains in place until the next hearing scheduled for September 9. The dispute stems from FSSAI advisories issued in May 2025 asking food operators to discontinue "100%" claims on packaging and promotional material.
