Delhi High Court denies default bail to Red Fort blast accused Jasir Wani
· India · Times of India, Hindustan Times, Indian Express
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected a petition by accused Jasir Bilal Wani, known as Danish, who was arrested by the NIA in November 2025 in connection with the Red Fort car bomb blast. A bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan dismissed his appeal against a March 30 trial court order that refused him default bail, citing that the accused is not entitled to bail after 90 days. Wani, a Kashmiri accused of being an active co‑conspirator, is alleged to have provided technical support by modifying drones and rockets, and to have worked closely with suicide bomber Umar un Nabi. The NIA’s May 2026 chargesheet described him as the “in‑house engineer” of the terror cell responsible for the Hyundai i20 explosion that killed 15 people near the Red Fort on 10 November 2025.
Why it matters
The ruling limits the legal options for a key accused in a major terror case, affecting the pace of the investigation and the protection afforded to the families of victims.
