Delhi High Court Has Light-Hearted Gen Z Exchange With CJP Leaders
· India · Times of India, ANI, Deccan Herald
The Delhi High Court engaged in a light-hearted exchange during a hearing on Wednesday after learning the ages of Cockroach Janta Party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. When Justice Subramonium Prasad asked advocate Abhik Chimni about the leaders' ages and was told Das was 27 and Ranka was 32, the court remarked that they did not qualify as part of Generation Z. The observation prompted a reaction on social media from CJP leader Abhijit Dipke, who posted an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The exchange occurred while the bench was hearing the leaders' challenge against a Special Executive Magistrate order extending their judicial custody until October 21. During the proceedings, the bench also questioned the petitioners' choice of legal remedy under Article 226 instead of seeking a revision.
