Delhi High Court Seeks Centre’s Stance on Fate of 100-Year-Old Qadeemi Masjid in Krishi Bhawan Redevelopment

The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Centre, CPWD, NDMC, and Delhi Waqf Board over concerns that the 100-year-old Qadeemi Masjid at Krishi Bhawan may be overlooked in the ongoing redevelopment plans. Though the mosque is not listed for removal, it also does not appear on the proposed new building’s map in the tender documents. The caretaking committee has urged the court to either preserve the mosque or provide an alternate prayer facility, citing its long-standing role as a workplace prayer site for Krishi Bhawan employees. The CPWD tender for Common Central Secretariat buildings 4 and 5, floated in January 2026, does not explicitly address the mosque’s future. Justice Anish Dayal has directed responses within four weeks from the Centre and relevant authorities.
