Delhi High Court Seeks Salman Khan's Response on 'Kala Hiran' Release Stay Plea
· Entertainment · Times of India, Indian Express, Live Law
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Salman Khan seeking his response to a plea by the makers of 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legal' to stay proceedings in his lawsuit against the film's release. The filmmakers, led by producer Amit Jani, argue that the dispute overlaps with Salman's earlier personality rights case before the same court. Salman had previously obtained an ex-parte ad-interim injunction on December 11, 2025, to protect his personality rights and later filed another application for an interim injunction specifically against the film. The plea contends that allowing both cases to proceed independently risks parallel proceedings concerning the film, its promotional content, and alleged infringement of publicity rights. The court, presided over by Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, issued the notice on Tuesday as per PTI reports.
Why it matters
Salman Khan faces a critical legal challenge as the court's intervention could delay or prevent the release of 'Kala Hiran', a film reportedly based on his life, affecting both the actor's legal strategy and the producers' investment. The outcome may set a precedent for how personality rights claims interact with film releases in Indian courts.
