Delhi High Court Sets Aside Order Restricting Carrom Federation From Using India

The Delhi High Court set aside an order that had restrained the All India Carrom Federation from using 'India' or 'Indian' in its name, logo, or competitions. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia observed on September 2 that the Union of India did not follow procedures prescribed under the Sports Code. The Court noted that a December 7, 2020 letter did not comply with Annexure III of the Sports Code and could not be treated as an order suspending or withdrawing recognition as a National Sports Federation. The single judge's earlier October 29, 2025 order had incorrectly presumed that non-renewal of annual recognition was sufficient to deny NSF status without providing notice or a hearing. The AICF had challenged that order through an appeal, pointing out that proper suspension procedures were bypassed.
