Delhi Imposes Up to ₹10,000 Fine for Vehicles Lacking Valid PUC Certificate

Vehicles in Delhi without a valid Pollution Under Control certificate will face challans and fines of up to ₹10,000 starting 1 October 2026. The Rekha Gupta-led government is launching a focused enforcement campaign to target non-compliant petrol, diesel, and CNG vehicles. Electric vehicles are exempt from the rule as they produce no tailpipe emissions. Additionally, the administration plans to use technology upgrades to strengthen the monitoring and functioning of PUC centres across the capital. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also announced broader anti-pollution measures, including a ban on dust-generating demolition activities from November 1 to January 31 and doubled parking charges.
