Delhi Nursery Cab Driver Arrested for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl
· India · Indian Express, Telegraph India, Zee News
A 35-year-old nursery school cab driver was arrested in Outer Delhi for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, police said on Monday. The incident came to light on August 23 when the girl's parents noticed a change in her behaviour and she disclosed that a 'bad uncle' was giving her chocolates and inappropriately touching her. School authorities showed the child CCTV footage, from which she identified the accused driver. The footage reportedly showed the driver following the girl to the washroom, offering her chocolates, and then assaulting her. Police seized the accused's phone, which contained multiple videos of him offering chocolates to children, and a case under the POCSO Act was lodged. In a separate incident, a playschool attendant in Northeast Delhi was arrested for allegedly assaulting a minor boy, after the child's parents found bruises on his face and arms.
Why it matters
These cases highlight ongoing safety concerns for children in school transportation and childcare settings, raising urgent questions about background verification of staff and monitoring of school premises. Parents, schools, and law enforcement are now under pressure to strengthen safeguards to prevent such incidents.
