Delhi: Only 0.27% of 4.5 lakh Form 6s disposed of in 42 days

· India · The Hindu, NDTV

As of October 11, only 1,238 of 4.5 lakh Form 6 applications for inclusion in Delhi's electoral roll have been processed over 42 days, data accessed by The Hindu shows. Of the 4.5 lakh applications, about 2.39 lakh were filed by voters seeking re-inclusion or first-time applicants after the draft roll published on August 31. With only 10 days remaining until the November 30 disposal deadline, eligibility citizens face delays as not even 1% of applications have been processed. Concerns have risen among those pending over a month, as applications rejected after October 30—the last filing date—will lose the chance to reapply. Delhi's CEO has directed Electoral Registration Officers to reverify 47.5 lakh names removed from the draft roll through door-to-door BLO visits.

Why it matters

Over 4.5 lakh eligible citizens seeking inclusion in Delhi's final electoral roll face uncertainty as applications remain pending with the disposal deadline of November 30 approaching, risking disenfranchisement if rejections occur after the October 30 re-filing cutoff.
