The grieving family of 19-year-old Arpit Jaj, who died in a five-storey building collapse in Delhi's Satya Niketan area, has decided to donate his corneas. Jaj, a second-year B.Com student at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College, had just returned to Delhi from his hometown of Dewas in Madhya Pradesh after celebrating Rakshabandhan. Hours after reaching the capital, the building housing Hostel Daze where he stayed came crashing down while repair work was underway. His mother, who urged him not to return to Delhi, was admitted to AIIMS due to overwhelming grief after identifying his body. The tragedy claimed seven lives and left 12 people injured, leading police to arrest building owner Hariram Gupta and order a magisterial inquiry.
