Delhi Police Yet to Register FIR in Parvesh Verma Slapping Incident
· India · Hindustan Times, Indian Express
Delhi Police have not registered a first information report over an incident where Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma allegedly slapped a man during a road inspection in Vikaspuri on Sunday. Aam Aadmi Party leaders Saurabh Bhardwaj, Jarnail Singh and Kuldeep Kumar were detained by police during a protest in west Delhi demanding an FIR against the minister. Verma defended his actions in a video posted on X, claiming that AAP workers hurled abuses at his family and that the MLA damaged the road because he did not receive a commission. Jarnail Singh rejected the allegations, stating the government fabricated claims after being exposed. Public Works Department engineers and the contractor submitted two complaints alleging that Singh tried to forcibly stop work and illegally demanded money.
Why it matters
