Delhi Prepares for CJP Tiranga March With 6,000 Cops and Traffic Curbs
· India · Times of India, NDTV
Central Delhi is bracing for a massive security operation on Friday ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's proposed 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march at Connaught Place. The Delhi Police have deployed around 6,000 personnel in shifts, supported by 200 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces, alongside barricades and traffic restrictions across 21 roads. The march, called by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke for 5pm at Central Park, aims to defend voting rights and the right to protest. However, the New Delhi Municipal Council stated that Central Park will remain closed on Friday, while the Delhi Police suggested an alternative gathering location. The security standoff follows the recent arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after they entered Jantar Mantar and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Why it matters
Commuters and residents in central Delhi face widespread traffic diversions and heavy security restrictions across 21 key roads during the demonstration.
