Delhi Receives Light Rain As Temperatures Remain Above Normal
· India · Hindustan Times, NDTV
The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorms for Delhi on Wednesday. While Palam recorded 64.2mm of rainfall in the 24 hours leading up to 8:30am, other stations like Safdarjung and Ridge received no precipitation. Despite the scattered rainfall, temperatures across the city remained above normal, with Safdarjung recording a maximum of 36°C. This recent weather activity follows an exceptionally wet August, during which the capital received 354.1mm of rain, significantly exceeding the long-period average of 233.1mm.
Why it matters
The persistent above-normal temperatures despite recent rainfall highlight the ongoing heat stress in the capital, which may continue to impact local traffic and waterlogging management efforts.
