Delhi Reports Sixfold H1N1 Cases, Nationwide Spike Continues

Delhi has reported 1,344 H1N1 cases by early August, a figure six times higher than the 229 cases recorded during the same period last year, making the capital the worst affected city in the country. State‑run hospitals have opened dedicated isolation wards and are urging vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly to take precautions. Mumbai has also seen a rise, with 309 cases between 1 June and 15 August, up from 72 the previous year. Doctors in Bengaluru report a noticeable uptick in influenza‑like illness and are testing only severe or persistent cases, especially children with asthma who may need special intervention.
